Unreached group : Muong of Vietnam

Muong of Vietnam

Muong of Vietnam
Until the revolution in 1945, Muong social organization was aristocratic, and a headman had absolute authority in his jurisdiction. Since the revolution, the Muong community has undergone enormous changes. Their nation has been transformed from a feudalistic society into a socialistic society. The Muong practice their traditional ethnic religion, worshipping ancestral spirits and other supernatural deities.

Ministry Obstacles
There has been little missionary work among the Muong, even though they are a large people group.

Outreach Ideas
Evangelists and church planters are needed to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Muong.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray the few believers among the Muong will be united around the truth of Scripture, and will lead holy lives, zealous to know and serve Jesus Christ.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray the Muong community will increasingly hunger to know the creator God. Pray also they will be able to live peacefully and safely.

Scripture Focus
"But indeed, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord." Numbers 14:21

Java Pesisir Kulon of Indonesia

Java Pesisir Kulon of Indonesia
The Jawa Pesisir Kulon people tend to be open and spontaneous in their social interactions. This is evident in their vibrant, colorful, and artistic clothing. Their culture leans more toward Islamic culture than towards their own historical Jawa culture. Islam is looked at as the national cultural foundation that takes precedence over traditional Jawa cultural values. Despite the adherence to Islam, the practice of occultism is very evident. Dukun (shaman/healer/occultist) are heavily relied upon. Various ceremonies that include meals are done to obtain happiness, safety, and peace.

Ministry Obstacles
The Jawa Pesisir Kulon people may not have a proper understanding of what Jesus taught, and who He claimed to be. Pray for accuracy in their understanding.

Outreach Ideas
Perhaps the current followers of Christ among this people will grow in numbers and maturity such that they can effectively carry the good news of Jesus to the entire community. Pray for a church planting movement to begin and be sustained.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for those who know and follow Jesus among the Jawa Pesisir Kulon people. Pray they will be firmly established in the faith, not doubting or wavering like shifting shadow. Pray they will be rooted and established in love.

Pray for the entire people group
The Jawa Pesisir Kulon need high quality, practical, vocational training, including appropriate technology. Present industries need to be expanded. The transportation infrastructure needs to be developed.

Scripture Focus
"Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns.'" 1 Chronicles 16:31

Gospel

The Social Gospel is a Gospel of self-help, not Divine help. Preaching the Gospel is a comprehensive answer to social evils of every kind, not just poverty or inequality. No social scheme carries power - only the Gospel. The Gospel puts the spirit of generosity, righteousness and unselfishness within people, like music in a musician.

Java Banyumasan of Indonesia

Java Banyumasan of Indonesia
Most of the Jawa Banyumasan people make their living from farming, and they are fairly advanced in agricultural production. The majority are Muslim, however, most are nominal Muslims. The other one-fifth are serious Muslims who strictly follow Islamic teachings and are faithful in worship. In addition, there are some Jawa Banyumasan who follow animistic beliefs. They believe there are spirits that come from the unseen world.

Ministry Obstacles
The majority of the Jawa Banyumasan people are Muslim, although most are not strongly committed to Islam.

Outreach Ideas
Pray that the Christians in this people group will grow in maturity and numbers such that they can carry the good news of Christ to their own people.

Pray for the followers of Christ
There are followers of Christ among the Jawa Banyumasan people. Pray they will be faithful to fellowship together, encouraging each other and teaching each other. Pray they will be zealous to be real disciples of Christ.

Pray for the entire people group
The Jawa Banyumasan people still need assistance to increase their agricultural production. They need more dams; a better irrigation system would help them harvest more than three times as much per year. Development of new industry is still needed outside the city of Cilacap.

Scripture Focus
"Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me." Matthew 25:40

Balinese of Indonesia

Balinese of Indonesia

Balinese of Indonesia
The Bali people are those who live on or originated from the island of Bali. Most Balinese live in very close-knit villages with strong family, social, religious and economic interrelationships. The Balinese are known throughout the world for their artistic abilities. Hinduism is the primary religion of the Balinese. Even though Hinduism has greatly affected the culture, the Balinese have managed to maintain their original culture, so that Balinese Hinduism differs from Indian Hinduism.

Ministry Obstacles
Close-knit societies make it especially difficult for any one member to follow a different religion.

Outreach Ideas
Perhaps Indonesian Christians from other people groups will be burdened to carry the good news of Jesus to the people of Bali, using varying methods of communication.

Pray for the followers of Christ
Pray for the followers of Christ among the people of Bali to grow in their love for the Lord and for each other. Pray they will have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

Pray for the entire people group
A great need in Bali is a government plan for tourism development. Well-conceived and well-executed laws could preserve the beauty and culture of Bali as well as promote its tourist trade for many years to come.

Scripture Focus
"All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will worship before You." Psalm 22:27

What a gift !

The Holy Spirit does not choose the strong and the capable, although he does not ignore them either. However, His purpose is to give strength to the weak and needy, the little folk who think little of themselves. Their weakness attracts His power, His all-sufficiency and life-giving dynamism. He comes for the best and for the worst of us, the Father's promise sent by the Son. What a gift!

We really need your prayers. You can be part of the ministry as you pray for the work there in Myanmar.

"Not by might, Nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT says the Lord of host"

Yes, in human wisdom and strength we can do lot of things, but nothing will be established and fruitful unless we do it in the strength and wisdom of God. So we covet your prayers much. Please continue to uphold us as the team ministers over the next one week in Myanmar.

MYANMAR MINISTRY - MAY 2010

Malachi 3:3

Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.
One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it." If today you are feeling the heat of the fire , remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

This very moment, someone needs to know that God is watching over them. And, whatever they're going through, they'll be a better person in the end.
